We don't train you to recite a list of exercises. You'll practise deciding what to teach, why you're teaching it, how to cue it and how to adapt when a client needs something different.
Confidence doesn't come from sounding like your trainer. You'll learn how to communicate clearly, authentically and in a way your clients understand.
Build the anatomy, biomechanics, programming and people skills behind effective teaching - not just the repertoire.

Alicia and Dan created Motion Lab's teacher training from years of teaching, movement education, physiotherapy and pain-science experience. They personally teach every cohort.
Motion Lab courses are recognised by AUSactive for Fitness Pilates Instructor registration. Eligible registered AUSactive professionals may also be able to claim CPD points on successful completion.
Know MoreEach week kicks off with a live 2-hour tutorial, where you’ll connect with your teachers and cohort to ask questions and deepen your knowledge. These sessions provide a structured start to your learning, covering the essential foundations of movement, biomechanics, and Pilates instruction.
Know MoreYour Online Student Portal houses all course materials. Each week’s self-paced module unlocks after the corresponding tutorial, ensuring structured, step-by-step progression.

We’re currently enrolling for our 2026 and 2027 cohorts. Start dates vary by training pathway, so check our upcoming course dates to find the option that works best for you.
All face-to-face training takes place in Adelaide. Normally we hold the face-to-face in Glenelg, but this may change. Please check if this is important to you. You’ll complete your practical training in a real Pilates studio, with access to the equipment and teaching environment you’ll work in as an instructor.
You don’t need a teaching background.
You’ll need to have completed at least 25 Pilates classes before your course begins, so you arrive with a practical understanding of Pilates from the client’s side of the room.
Beyond that, what matters most is a genuine interest in learning how to teach.
That depends on the pathway you choose.
Mat Training prepares you to teach mat Pilates classes.
Reformer Training prepares you to teach reformer Pilates classes.
Mat + Reformer Training prepares you to teach across both.
Your training is designed to give you the knowledge, practical experience and confidence to plan and lead classes - not simply complete the coursework.
Our Graduates have gone on to open their own studios, teach group classes, undertake further study in exercise physiology, phiotherapy and so much more.
Your course fee covers the full training pathway, including live tutorials with Alicia and Dan, online learning, face-to-face studio training, observation and practice hours, teaching classes, assessment and ongoing mentorship. Please note if doing Mat or Reformer Pilates the Course includes 30 studio classes or 60 studio classes if doing the combined Course. This alone is worth close to $1000-$2,000.
You can either choose to pay upfront or on a monthly payment plan. If you pay upfront, you’ll enjoy a discounted price.

Your weekly time commitment varies throughout the course. It is more intensive upfront and then less hours at the end of the Course. We recommend allowing 4 hours per week for a single course across online learning, live tutorials, observation, practice and teaching hours. Plus the additional time for the Intensive weekend(s).
Some weeks will be lighter than others, and the self-paced components give you flexibility around work and other commitments.
Our Course Guide has a great chart of the week-by-week hourly commitment.
We understand that work, illness and life happen. If you miss a tutorial, and have prior approval, you can watch the recording. This is granted on special occasions for illness or pre-planned activites that cannot be moved. The course cannot be completed without attending the face-to-face Intensive.
Because practical training and teaching hours are an important part of becoming teach-ready, all sessions will need to be completed before you can graduate.
The course is designed to be completed alongside real life.
Training combines scheduled live and face-to-face sessions with self-paced online learning, so you can complete much of the theory around your own schedule and from home.
Before enrolling, check the course dates carefully so you know when your required in-person sessions take place. If you’re unsure whether the timetable will work for you, book a Course Fit Call and we’ll talk it through.
Motion Lab’s Courses are recognised for the relevant AUSactive Fitness Pilates Instructor registration pathway.
Graduating from the course and registering with AUSactive are separate steps, and AUSactive may have additional registration requirements, including current First Aid and CPR.
See our Course Accreditation section for full details.
Recognition requirements vary from country to country, so we can’t guarantee that an Australian qualification will automatically be accepted everywhere.
AUSActive is Australia's largest fitness industry body, which is internationally recognised so your qualification can travel with you.
If you plan to teach overseas, we recommend checking the registration or insurance requirements in the country where you intend to work before enrolling. We’re happy to provide details of the course and its Australian recognition to help you do that.
